Civil engineers

- plan and design structures, roads and buildings
- consult with clients and professionals
- make sure construction sites are suitable
- ensure structures can manage loads
- supervise construction sites
- prepare reports and drawings
- assess environmental impacts of projects
- prepare cost estimates for projects
- estimate project budgets
- get plans approved and permits issued
How can you become a Civil engineer?
You need a qualification to become a civil engineer and experience may be useful.
You need
- a bachelor's degree in civil engineering

- experience in similar work
- to be registered as a Chartered Professional Engineer with Engineering New Zealand
- a driver licence

You need University Entrance to do the study or training for this job.
