We have three small community gardens on campus. We also have a Rongoā Māori medicinal garden, a threatened plant garden, over 6,000 mature trees and a diverse native bird life, including tui and a resident ruru on our 65-hectare campus.
The University has a vast native fern collection hosting over 70 New Zealand ferns, including three mature Kahikatea stands.
We have partnered with Pacific Coast Technical Institute, to establish 4 hives on campus for research and educational purposes. We are scoping the possibility of running introductory bee keeping courses for our staff and students. For more information please contact Rachael Goddard [email protected]
